What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is about God's story. The Triune God of the universe, the Creator and Maker of heavens and earth, the God of Israel, in love made himself known in the person and work of Jesus of Nazareth, the Jewish awaited Messiah, in order that he might reconcile the human race and the whole creation unto Himself through Jesus' atoning and substitutionary death and bodily resurrection; those who profess faith in Jesus the Messiah belong to a new community, a new kind of family pledging their allegiance to Jesus as Lord and Savior, and have entered into a new covenantal relationship with the God of Israel that includes both Jews and Gentiles.

 The Four Gospels in One Sentence

In the Gospel according to Matthew, Jesus is God with us, the Jewish Messiah. In Mark,  Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is the Spirit's anointed Messiah according to Saint Luke. In John, Jesus is the Revealer of God who had been sent by God. Hence,  the Gospel is about Jesus,  the Son of God,  and the Spirit's anointed Jewish Messiah who revealed God to men.
